Blue Dream lab report

What 2,118 state lab tests of Blue Dream flower show beyond a single THC number: the odds of a strong batch, how published figures hold up, which terpene leads test by test, which strains share its terpene mix, how much the lab matters and how it reaches the shelf.1

Key findings

  1. 49% of 2,118 lab tests reached 20% THC or more; 7.8% reached 25%.1
  2. 3 of the 4 single published THC figures sit above the median lab result.1
  3. β-myrcene was the most abundant terpene in 68% of tests.1
  4. Closest terpene mix among 17 strains: Strawberry Cough (81% overlap), then Green Crack (73%).1
  5. Ranks 16th of 29 strains by median THC (19.96%), with the 7th-narrowest spread of 24.1
  6. Lab medians differed by 9.86 points overall and by 5.72 within Michigan alone.1
  7. The highest-THC third of tests carried more terpenes than the lowest (2.07% vs 1.24% total).1

How likely is Blue Dream to test above 20% THC?

49% of 2,118 state lab tests of Blue Dream flower reached 20% total THC or more, about half. 7.8% reached 25% and 0.3% reached 30%.1

The odds depend on where the flower was tested: 88% of California tests reached 20% (83 tests), against 7.8% in Hawaii (64).1 Each state has its own growers, labs and testing rules, so the gap describes markets as much as plants.

Do published THC figures for Blue Dream match the lab results?

3 of the 4 single published figures we checked sit above the median lab result for Blue Dream (19.96%).1 The highest figure, ILGM at 29%, was reached by 0.6% of tests.1,2

The 2 published ranges cover between 69% and 93% of tests, from 15–27% (Weedmaps) at the most to 17–24% (AllBud) at the fewest.1,3,4

None of these figures describes a particular jar; only the certificate of analysis for that batch does.

Which terpene leads Blue Dream, test by test?

β-myrcene was the most abundant terpene in 68% of the 484 tests that report individual terpenes, α-pinene in 24% and β-caryophyllene in 6.6%.1

Leafly names myrcene as the dominant terpene, and the lab tests agree: β-myrcene led in 68% of them.1,6

405 of the 484 tests come from Nevada labs, so the shares describe mainly Nevada flower.1

Which strains have the most similar terpene mix to Blue Dream?

By the overlap of their typical terpene mix, the closest strains to Blue Dream are Strawberry Cough (81%), Green Crack (73%) and Grape Ape (68%); the least similar of the 17 strains compared is Durban Poison (43%).1

How it works: each strain's median level of eight terpenes is expressed as shares of their sum, and the overlap is the part of the mix two strains have in common (identical mixes score 100). Only strains with at least 30 tests reporting individual terpenes are compared. This compares lab chemistry only; it does not predict how a strain feels.

How strong is Blue Dream compared with other strains?

By median total THC, Blue Dream ranks 16th of the 29 strains in our lab dataset (19.96%), between Strawberry Cough (20.00%) and Pineapple Express (19.80%).1 By the share of tests at 25% or more (7.8%), it ranks 17th.1

The middle half of its tests spans 4.75 points (17.62%–22.37%), the 7th-narrowest spread of the 24 strains with at least 30 tests: results under the name are more consistent than for most strains.1

Does the testing lab change Blue Dream's THC result?

Among the 21 labs that tested Blue Dream at least 20 times, the median result ran from 15.07% (Lab I, Michigan) to 24.93% (Lab G, California), a gap of 9.86 points.1

The gap is not only between states: within Michigan, the 8 labs with 20+ tests differed by 5.72 points (15.07%–20.79%).1

Labs test different growers’ flower, so a gap is not proof that one lab reads high; it shows how much the number on a label can depend on who grew and who tested the batch. Labs are anonymized here; the downloadable test file names them.

Does higher-THC Blue Dream also have more terpenes?

Generally, yes. In the 733 tests that report both, the third with the most THC (21.81% or more) had a median of 2.07% total terpenes, against 1.24% for the third with the least (18.82% or less).1

The pattern held in 3 of the 3 states with at least 30 such tests (Nevada up, Maryland up and California up).1 Total terpenes measure aroma compounds by weight; the comparison says nothing about effects.

Is Blue Dream getting stronger?

Median THC went from 18.30% in 2017 (31 tests) to 23.21% in 2024 (50), +4.91 points.1

Holding the state fixed changes the picture: in Nevada, the median went from 19.39% in 2020 to 18.09% in 2023, −1.30 points.1 Much of the overall change comes from which states supplied the tests in each year.

Years with fewer than 20 tests are left out.

In what forms, and under what names, does Blue Dream reach testing labs?

Of 3,820 lab results under exactly the name Blue Dream, 65% were flower; concentrates 25%, shake and trim 4.7% and pre-rolls 3.7%.1 Only flower enters the figures on this site.

Another 780 results carried a longer name that contains Blue Dream, 17% of all results with the name in them, led by “Santa Cruz Blue Dream” (84), “Super Blue Dream” (31) and “Blue Dream OG” (28).1 Extra name words, cross markers and CBD versions mean these may not be the same plant, so they are excluded (how we match names).

How common and how pricey is Blue Dream on dispensary menus?

In our Weedmaps snapshot of 27 US markets (Oct 3, 2026), 850 store listings within 50 miles of each market's center carried Blue Dream flower, in 23 of the 27 markets: the most of the 16 strains we track.8

Its median exact-eighth price was $25.00 in Los Angeles (typical other strain: $30.00), $41.05 in New York (typical other strain: $33.90) and $17.00 in Detroit (typical other strain: $15.00).8 That makes it cheaper than the typical strain in 1 of the 3 markets we could compare.

What this data cannot tell you

  • A particular jar: lab results describe flower sold under the name across 11 states from 2015 to 2024; only a batch’s own certificate of analysis describes that batch.1
  • Effects: these are chemistry measurements. None of them predicts how a strain will feel to a particular person.
